XRP futures contracts on CME Group have gained significant traction since their launch on May 19, with trading volume reaching $542 million. Notably, 45% of this volume came from outside North America, highlighting XRP's global appeal. Open interest has risen to $70.5 million, indicating sustained demand.

The contracts, available in standard (50,000 XRP) and micro (2,500 XRP) sizes, are cash-settled and linked to the CME CF XRP-Dollar Reference Rate. Both institutional and retail participation has been strong, with 15 firms and four retail platforms contributing to a $19.3 million volume on launch day.

CME's expansion into XRP derivatives follows its existing lineup of Bitcoin, Ethereum, and solana futures. The robust uptake suggests growing institutional interest in regulated crypto exposure, potentially paving the way for a spot XRP ETF.
